Hem Stories
In conjunction with this year's Salone del Mobile we’re opening the doors of the Hem Gallery & Garden in Brera, Milan again! We’re showcasing new launches, such as the upcoming Stump Tables by Faye Toogood as well as refreshed and new classics like Puffy Chair, Boa Pouf, Max Table and much more.
Knitting the Boa Pouf
Our recently launched Boa Pouf is seemingly effortless, but behind the surface the smooth shape-knit textile that covers the Boa Pouf is a milestone in technologically innovative furniture. Follow us as we step into the knitting factory in Austria, to observe the making of a Boa sleeve.
Behind the design:
Boa Pouf by Sabine Marcelis
The pouf is Marcelis’s inaugural design into our collection and her first foray into soft form furniture. This donut-shaped beauty is perfectly sculptural; a bold graphic form that interrupts interior landscapes with its faultless chunky geometry, available in three vibrant upholstery options: Sulfur Yellow, Cotton Candy, and Oatmeal. Read more about our collaboration with Sabine and the driving inspirational force behind the design.
Offcut Plates: Inspired by the city
The first inspiration for the Offcut Plates was found in the architecture and the streets, quite literally, of Guadalajara. Specifically, in the way that broken tiles from ceramic factories are commonly used as a decorative mosaic-like material for floors and pavements.
Offcut Plates: Cutting edges with Fabien Cappello
Fabien Cappello’s design studio sits behind a bright yellow door in a quiet residential neighbourhood of Guadalajara. After moving to Mexico from London around five years ago, Fabien’s design practice has absorbed the singular influence of Mexican culture. His work, which includes both industrial and collectible design, reverberates with an energy that is transferred from street to studio.
Sneak Peeking Puffy
The Puffy Lounge Chair, designed by Faye Toogood, is the first introduction of Hem’s Puffy seating collection, which will encompass a range of chair and stool products, offering a tactile new take on the enduring concept of steel-framed furniture.
